As long as the bone around the falling tooth is intact and the gums are infection free, then a same-day dental implant is possible.
A 3D computed tomography (CT) scan enables our San Diego dentist to create a temporary crown restoration right there at the office on the day of your dental implant procedure. Once the implant is sufficiently secure in the bone, we can also insert the titanium post in place and put a temporary crown on top.
Although a permanent implant won’t be placed immediately, you’ll still be able to leave the office that day with a temporary restoration that won’t have anyone second-guess your smile and avoid embarrassment when you’re in the office or at a social gathering.
A same-day implant can save months of waiting for a new tooth. Additionally, it will reduce the number of visits required for surgery, as well as the money you would need to spend on preparation and surgery time. By contrast, if you would have undergone the traditional tooth restoration procedure with dental implants, you must wait for several months to return to your previous look.
Once the dental implant heals and the permanent crown is placed, the difference between the two is practically non-existent. When done properly, immediate dental implants are absolutely safe.
